Christmas Home Tour - Part 2
There are a lot of things I love about Christmas! One of those is how Christmas décor makes our home feel warm, cozy, and inviting. It makes me want to curl up on the sofa in my favorite spot with a warm soft throw and a hot cup of peppermint mocha coffee to watch a Hallmark Christmas movie by the glow of the Christmas tree lights.
Today, I'm sharing Part 2 of our Christmas home tour. You'll get a glimpse of our guest bedroom, guest bath, master bedroom, laundry room, screen porch, and deck. If you missed
Part 1, you can see it
here.
Like
Part 1 of our Christmas home tour, there are quite a few pictures. I'll try not bore you with too much talking and just hit the high points in each room.
Guest Room:
Since we'll have family with us during the holidays, I wanted to make sure the guest room had a few touches of Christmas. I didn't want it to be too overwhelming...just inviting. I added touches of gold to this room and I love how it works with the navy blue. The Merry & Bright pillow cover was a DIY. The mercury glass tree and reindeer candle holder were Marshalls finds. The JOY sign was also a DIY project this year. It's made from pallet wood and premade letters (modge podged with cardstock) from Hobby Lobby. I added a few touches of greenery and a vintage Santa to the old window shelf. You can see how I added the shelf to the window
here.
Guest Bath:
I always add a few touches of Christmas to the guest bath. It's the one that gets used by anyone stopping by or visiting for the holidays. Plus, it's visible from the main living area of the house. I used another yardstick star
(tutorial here) to dress up the ledger shelves behind the toilet. The reindeer image I found online, printed it on burlap, and framed it in an Ikea frame. The tree on the sink vanity I've had forever. The silver reindeer votive holders are from Wal-Mart. And finally, the soap dispenser was also a simple DIY project.
Laundry Room:
I also added a couple of little Christmas touches to the laundry room. If I have to do laundry, I want it to be enjoyable.....
P.S. I apologize for the dark pictures. There is no natural light coming into this room at all.
Master Bedroom:
Our master bedroom connects directly to the living area and is visible to everyone. I wanted to keep it cozy without a lot of clutter. There's always an overflow of presents and the ottoman is a perfect place to add a few. Have you noticed that I love pretty wrapping? I used the same layering treatment with wreaths on the window above the bed as I did in the kitchen window (from
Part 1). The JOY pillow was inspired by a canvas I saw on Pinterest. I used a premade pillow cover from Ikea. I love how it came together! The Christmas tree cutout on the vanity was a last minute DIY project made from pallet wood. I came up with this one while watching a Christmas movie on the Hallmark channel. The movie featured a log cabin with tree cutout shutters. I'm not quite sure it's what I had envisioned but for now, it'll work.
Screen Porch:
The screen porch is one of my favorite spaces! I love how this space looks and feels with all the red. It's so welcoming and a great way to invite guest into our home at the back door. The Welcome sign beside the back door was an easy DIY made from pallet wood. Above the
cabinet I used a tree branch and hung some dollar store snowflakes and plastic ornaments from it using fishing wire. I saw something similar to it on Pinterest but it was hung in a kitchen window. Here, I needed something that could take wind I am so pleased with how it turned out. The red and white check pillow covers on the bed are from Ikea. The other pillows on the bed and in the chairs are from Homegoods and Hobby Lobby. I used fresh greenery cut from our yard in baskets along with pinecones and logs. The farmhouse table is set with BHG dishes from Wal-Mart that I've had for several years now. The centerpiece is just greenery, candlesticks, and ornaments arranged in a dough bowl. The children's table (made by my sweet hubby) also got a few Christmas touches with a Target $3 tree and some DIY mason jar snow globes. I made the Merry Christmas burlap banner last year and hung it in exactly the same place.
Back Deck:
And finally, we are on the back deck. I probably should have started the tour here because most everyone uses the back door instead of the front. I started adding the garland to the railing out here last year and really like how it looks with the red plaid bows. The JOY sign is also a DIY project from last year. I've seen several of these floating around Pinterest and one very similar to it at Hobby Lobby. It's one of my favorite all time projects.
Well that's it! It's been great having you stop in for a visit! I really hope you've enjoyed our Christmas Home tour and maybe found some inspiration for next year or even a few last minute ideas for this year!
Now that all the decorating and shopping is done, I'm excited about spending time with my family and friends and of course, all the yummy food and treats! Did you know that the average person puts on 5lbs during Christmas and New Year? Yes, that would be me..... I just can't help myself!
My hope and prayer is that you all have a joyous Christmas season and a blessed New Year! And that you get to spend it with the ones you love! Thanks for allowing me into your lives and spending precious time with me in 2014! I truly am looking forward to 2015 and I can't wait to share with you what's happening around here!
Hugs!
